But seriously... I gotta finger out what cars I should look into. I could get a new Civic Si, but if I were to get one, I'd be dumb since the CTR is so close, and I'd so rather have a CTR, but it'd cost more
The FD looks great, goes fast and does crazy drift... but it breaks, the FC is old, but it'd break because of age. 300zx and supra are heavy bishes and I'd get revved on too much, the MR2... I dunno, maybe that one is ok for now. 240sx, but only if I were to get the SR20DET swap or maybe just a full S15 Silvia front clip
The Sil-Forty :naughty: AAHHHHH. I suck.
Just for the heck of it, why not build the KA24.
A featured car in the May 2002 Sport Compact Car was pushing over 400 hp....:dunno:
Get a knackered one for a song and refurb.
God forbid, if something were to happen to my DC4, it's what I'd consider.
FD's can be fussy in terms of maintenance and running costs IMO; SCC had a buyer's guide a few issues ago... I'll have a gander at it in the AM and drop some science yO :exnbp:
Gotta go search for new Palm software...
:yay:
Dave.

wooo I feel out of the loop... KA24? whaaaa?
is that better than an SR20DET? I mean... .4 liters more, but NA...
I'd be going with the crowd, but I'd trust the SR swap first. Maybe I'm retarded, though.

the KA is a "truckish" engine rather than a sporty engine, but it can still potentially haul ass with turbo. Alot of guys have stock engines and putting down ~350 hp, but with a nice flat powerband. If you want 350 hp with just about any other I4, that 350hp will be really peaky.
That KA is like a very small v6

Yeah. But the application I have for it wouldn't be for solid speed. I'm into track racing and autocross. Anyone can go in a straight line
From videos I've seen, the S14 and S15 Silvias can do very well on the track.
I'd simply love an FD, but I want something I don't have to hope will work day after day. I do have a schedule to keep, after all

oic.
s13's are pretty good autocrossers. there are alot of japanese tuners that deal with suspension and chassis improvements for the s13. s14s have a nice aftermarket too, but are kinda on the heavy/sluggish side to begin with.
my personal favorite autoxer from nissan would be my beloved b13 sentra se-r. NX2000's are awesome too, but rare.

I'm not a big fan of the USDM S13. that's my main problem with it. I only like a few cars with the flip-up headlights. Those being the FD, FC, MR2, and the AE86
Now if maybe the S13 with a Silvia front clip... Now that'd be worth driving.
I'd still rock an S15 no questions asked, though. Damn US market :madfawk:

jesus, I leave this board for two days and an FC thread pops up while I'm gone. Figures.
Anyway, I am all for the FC. I bought mine in great condition (S4 N/A) for $2k and haven't spent any more in maintaining it then I would have on any other car. It had issues, some non-working electronics, but thats normal. Replaced a few switches, I was good to go. The S4 GXL and TII came with a clutching LSD, but they tend to wear out by 100k... but they are rebuildable.
I highly recommend the FC, it handles great even stock, makes good deal of power, and it is much more affordable then the FD. Not to mention there are mount kits to fit 13B-RE and 20B engines into the bay, no cutting. Basically, anything you can do to an FD, you can do to an FC.
I am about to sell mine for an '86 Sport so I can turbo swap it (lightest practical FC chassis) and make it into a faux-Infini
BTW, the FC is not styled after the 944. It is a logical evolution over the SA/FB, and that 944 that looks like an FC came out right about the same time. Mazda spent years of R&D developing the FC body shape... they didn't just rip the 944 body at the last second.

The 944 is an evolution of the the 1981 924 GTS which was itself a roadgoing version of the 924 Carrera GTR Le Mans car. The 924 came out in 1976, before the first RX-7.
This is a regular 924, note the similarity in the front end to the original RX-7:

This is a 924 Carrera GTS:

This is a 944:

This is a 944 Turbo/944 S2 (they look the same):

The SA looks like a 924, the FC looks like a 944. Who copied who (or whether anybody copied at all) is debatable. The biggest difference in styling was that the 924/944 was always a 2+2 with a window for the back seat while the RX-7 was always a 2-seater with a vestigal back seat added to certain variations.
