How do you believe life on Earth started?

in the grand scheme of things, humans are less than shit...we just have a huge ego and think we're the best thing to come to the universe since the Big Bang.
I believe (talking from the closest religion of christianity - islam), World was created in 7 "steps" not days. People take religious books too literally.
My own view is that God initiated the start (big bang?) and then evo kicked in. God created fixed rules and everything has their destiny except MAN. Man is the only one who has a choice to be whatever it wants to be. Everything in the world (possibly in universe) follows a life that is choosen for them. For example, ducks know how to swim the sec they hatch, and they know their predators. Humans on the other hand, learn every thing by themselves and absolutly know nothing when born. Humans choose the life of their own.
oh my mind hurts now. Its 8am in the morning and I am bored already at work.

Not sure. Could all have been a gross accident involving some stray amino acids.
However, I think there's strong support for the Genesis idea of Judeo-Christianity. Why? Genesis I is fundamentally prehistory. Almost any bible scholar will tell you that. This literal belief in a word-for-word accuracy of the Bible is outdated and shortsighted, frankly.
Okay, put yourself at the time when God (supposedly) spoke to who were then nomadic people. That's what... four thousand years ago, easily? Maybe more. The life expectancy of these people is probably under 20 years. The oldest may live to their mid 30s if they are really lucky. How in the world are you going to explain eons of timespan to people who will never be able to comprehend a quarter century? Answer: You don't. Tell them a parable about how you created it in a week.
After that it's all evolution. A much more convincing argument than a strict "7 day" following of Genesis.

- 3: Created light. (Big bang)
- Everything was water.
- 9: Created the land. (Tectonic movement, volcanic activity, evaporation, what-have-you)

I can prolly find a book that will prove that life started on here from alien genetic engineering. I give you a Christian Coalition rating of 8 out of 10 for that statement.

Sorry, but that's not enough people. Despite what the bible says, 2 people is far too shallow a gene pool to produce a stable population. 12... still too small. In order to prevent inbreeding, each pair's children would have to breed with another pair's, and that would mix their genetic traits.
I read somewhere that for us to establish a colony on another planet, we'd need at least 50 people for short-term (couple hundred years) survival, and 500 people to establish a permanent outpost with a stable gene pool.
