Not just the frailty of the human body, but the frailty of human morality. Who's to stop someone from going to the past to change it for their benefit? I dont think you would be able to go into the future, because it hasnt happened yet - it hasnt been set. If I make a time machine (I saw a delorean on the road the other day - kick ass!) and went to the future, I've already altered it because who's to say I'm not the ruler of the world in 4 or 5 years? By me traveling into the future, I "disappear" because I just am not around anymore to affect how things occur.

Another problem is the frrail human body, if you watch Ghost in the Shell in the future we will probably have cyberbrain and artificial body, those things can be made to withstand the force of traveling at light speed.

I believe time travel is possible, but we won't see it in our lifetime.
did you read my post to travel AT the speed of light you would need an infinte amount of force, if you have ever studied relativity and physics in depth you would know that the physics are purely impossible

the part about wormholes, well that isn't really perceptual time travel, that is similar to (not the same because of the wormhole thing) me saying it takes an hour to walk somewhere and then driving there instead and saying that perceptual time travel has occured, it is a good idea but it does not work

would you really need an infinite power source though? The speed of light is a finite and constant value, therefore reaching it should be a possibility right, incredibly difficult but i dont think its impossible, weather its exponentially increacing or not. You would just have to find the rate at which the mass would be increacing and apply the force as necessary.

There is nothing impossible, only improbable. 600 year ago it was impossible to sail around the world, 200 years ago it was impossible to fly, 75 years ago it was impossible to get to the moon, 50 years ago it was impossible to cure polio, and now its impossible to get a decent cheeseburger and mcdonalds. That doesnt mean it cant ever be done.

Imagine the monetary benefits of it tho.
Betting, lottery, stock market.

See i dont know if you could actually change the past. Its already been written, but that goes into the whole paradox/ alternate universe discussions.

well supposedly it is possible. but the catch is that you can only go forward. see everyone knows the faster you go (ie the speed of light) the slower everything else goes, for the person/thing doing it. so.....if it were possible to go the speed of light, and not splatter into a gellatinous mess. you could go forward. but you could never come back.

then theres the fun easy way. get frozen, thaw out later (when its possible to do so) and experience the future. then live out the rest of you life.

but hey, what do i know

Damn glad to see my topic got some new life in it...LOL

But worm holes are a good example of maybe them beingable to be used as time travel or how about even a Black Hole, No one really understand them or anything, who is to say its not a doorway into time or different dimmensions??

Default blackholes

They say that being sucked into a blackhole will kill you instantly, but if you could some how survive the trip you would move at the speed of light or faster. So you might not need a power source if there was a way to reflect off the pull off a blackhole. Still there's the problem with infinite mass and our fragile little bodies.

As you're being pulled into a blackhole time moves slower and slower and everything outside would look as if it were speeding by faster and faster. Would be kind of interesting to spend 1 minute in a blackhole. Time would be extremely slow, but when you came out it would be like 100 years later.

Sounds to me if we could someday harness this power, that moving forward in time will be possible. Moving into the past will definately be harder and i cant see that happening.
