I'll stay away from the drugs and whatnot. But booze is my fun toy from time to time. So I guess I'm halfway straightedge.

Oh, and BTW. sXe... that's the stupidest fucking way of saying straightedge that I could ever think of. I think you should all stop typing or writing it like that and make it go away... that is all.

I am not a typical straight edger, but I don't do drugs or any of that poo. I know quite a few of them and I look up to them :thumbup:.

im sXe, but i dont use OTC drugs. havent in over 5 years. ive had one partner.

 

actually its about monogamy, and the true old schoolers are about no sex. but damnit, im lutheran, so im finna have a partner hardliners border on insanity from the whole no sex/ no masturbation thing. no pornography...etc... that theory just really goes against the way your body is supposed to work, there is a point where "living healthy" becomes unsafe...

i believe caffeine is a vice, it is a vice i have yet to conquer. drugs are drugs. i dont however drink soda because im tired, or coffee, i do it because it tastes good.

you would be correct. the x indicated that this person was under age and could not be served alcohol. when sXe came about people started voluntarily putting the x on their hand, and ive seen a few of my friends get tatooed. (to those thinking this is a good idea, ive seen a couple of them with cigs in their mouth...talk about a good way to get your ass kicked)

anyway, the whole point of sXe boils down to one thing: keep your mind clear for life. drugs and booze are crutches, and if your life is about fawking all kinda hoes than that becomes a distraction too.

 

Straightedge is about your own interpretation. Even though I agree with the rest of your post, I don't feel that anyone can pull the two stone tablets of sXe out of their ass and declare the commandments.

Yes, typically it includes monogamy. Some people take this as no sex until marriage, others as one partner at a time. I fall into the second group. In either case, casual sex is a no no.

For me, it's all about my beliefs regarding life. See, in my opinion the sole purpose of living is to experience all you can while being the best person you can.

The people who say 'I don't do (whatever), but every once in a while I like to have fun' are the reason I'm straight edge. See, if that's what it takes for you to have fun or relax or be creative, #1 you have some issues and #2 your life sucks.

In my opinion, painkillers are the biggest copout available today. I know some rather macho guys who'll take your nose off if you make a pass at their girlfriends, but first sign of a little headache and they run for the tylenol. Sure, alcohol and drugs (yes pot is a drug you hippies. :fawk:) are used as a way out of life in general, but none of them can feasably be used 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Eventually life is going to give you 5 across the eyes and you're going to have to deal with all the shit you've gotten yourself into. However, painkillers are readily available as well as extremely cheap. A large bottle of extra strength Whatever (tm) can last several weeks of keeping yourself doped up every moment you're awake. And I know people who live like that.

Not to mention women who have those little bottles of antibacterial soap in their purses.

Been without any prescription or OTC drugs for 3 years now. I used to have rather serious spring allergies, now I get some sniffles. Headaches are 90% gone, and the remainder don't distract me from whatever I'm doing. When my wisdom teeth came out I made an exception for those general oral antibiotics but that doesn't exactly go against what I've stated above. No painkillers though.

If you just live with it for a couple of years it doesn't bug you anymore.

 

if you read the posts its about a very general categorization, and thereafter i spoke in very vague generalizations. most hardliners would be very offended if you confused them with hate edge or straight edge.
