"I don't need substances to make me happy" either. Yesterday happened to be national smoke weed day, so I indulged. There's nothing wrong with a little bit of vice here and there as long as it's not the only thing you do. Just because someone drinks or smokes every once in a while, doesn't mean they do it all the time.

I don't mean to try and "convert" the people who choose not to indulge, just pointing out that it's not the only answer.

straightedgers and people who believe in a religion all have a sheep mentality? i highly doubt that. i would call myself straightedge. i'm not hardcore (i drink caffeine), but i don't drink liquor or do drugs. not because i follow other people. but because that's my personal choice. not to be hip or chic. if i wanted to be part of the "in" crowd, i would go out to bars and get plastered every weekend and go home with a different girl every night and do any drug i feel like doing. that's what our society tells us is cool. sXe is so not mainstream. sure, you can say there are hippocrites. but there are hippocrites in EVERYTHING. even in the people that are into drugs and such. you know there are people that don't do drugs but say they do. that would be a hippocrite in my book. i don't tell people they are a bad person for doing stuff like that. it's their choice. i do refuse if they offer though. and that is my choice. not me being a sheep. me being me. so if choosing to be myself is a sheepish thing to do...if standing up for what i believe in is following other people, i guess i do fall into your stereotype of being a sheep.

i also feel this way about my "religion". i wouldn't call it religion, but i'm sure you would. i don't force it on people. i don't do it because other people think it's cool (because, again, they don't. society says to make up your own). i do it because of my experience. say what you want, but i'm not going to change because you say it's bad or good.

 

Relax, you'll live longer. I don't mind straight edge people, as long as I don't get a lecture about the things I do. Oh yeah, I drink, but I haven't smoked up in like 7 years. I do smoke cigs, but its like a 3 pack a week habit. And if some "Hate" egde person hits me for smoking too close to him/her, I truly feel sorry for them and can't be held responsible for what happens next. I used to live the rock star life (for specific reasons, I kinda was one) and I don't fuck around.

I kinda like the clean life because its what people don't expect me to do. All my life I have done things to prove people wrong, and staying clean is one of them.
