i'm sure they probably use it the most, as in quantity wise, but salt is very important in cooking.

Came here to post this.

I cooked in restaurants for years and salt is in just about every recipe in small amounts to bring out and enhance certain flavors. If people still cooked their own meals when they are at home instead of packaged meals they would understand how ridiculous this ban really is. The food is going to taste bland and restaurants from high end to low end will drop off because of it. Soups especially because with this ban you could no longer use broths or stocks to make them, bakeries could no longer make bread products because salt is used as an integral part of the recipes as well.

Who will go around enforcing this? Are. They going to go in to every restaraunt in NY and check every recipe to make sure there is no salt and then supervise them making it?

that's about the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. you pretty much can't make any food taste good without salt.

While some restaurant food (especially fast food) is over-salted, salt is an integral part of cooking and making food taste good. This legislation is retarded.

Just like the article says, this ban would be making the decision for people, which really undermines the "freedom" were supposed to have as Americans. The fact is, people have to to WANT to be healthy, removing salt from restaurants is not going to change anything, people would just bring there own salt, or restaurants would just ingnore the ban on all but the most obvius aplications.
