Psycho Ex-Girlfriend rant [not a poll]
OMG, I can't believe this. Sunday night I took my mom to a Bela Fleck concert. He was playing with world-class Tabla percussionist Zakir Hussein instead of the ol' Victor Wooten/Future Man combo on the campus where I work. It made her night. I've been a fan for 16 years, and my girlfriend of that long ago was also a big fan which my mother knew, and she randomly asked about her.
I told her, "well, she went on to get her master's degree in Art History and is now an interpretive dance and fine arts instructor at [a university]. She's very accomplished and has held exhibits in 19 countries around the world." [this girlfriend] and I were together for 4 years and graduated from the same high school, so it's hard not to know where people go when you come from a circle that small. I've made no contact with her in 14 years. She told me not to and I'm an honest guy that keeps his word. So...
When my mom goes home, what does she do? Acting on her own volition, she googles her, finds her web page, and being an artist herself, was very impressed with her work. She clicked the "contact" button and sent a "fan letter" lauding the pieces on display on her web page. She wished her well and thanked her for the time spent at our home in Georgia, half a lifetime ago. Had I known my 67 year-old mom would have dare emailed her with good intent, I would have told her not to because I really didn't expect her to get involved.
[This ex-girlfriend] forwards this well-wishing email to the police, files a cease-and-desist order, and sends a rude, angry and threatening letter to my mom accusing her of mental dysfunction, delusions, and claiming that any further contact will be followed with "criminal" prosecution. 1) what a load of shit, 2) holy cow she's got issues, 3) there are no grounds to even have a restraining order filed or to press charges. There's been nothing but kind words or silence, and I clearly haven't made any point to pursue her, ever. There has been no contact, no threats, and civility ever since. When we broke up it was because I couldn't quit smoking... she did the breaking up and it was not like I ever laid a hand on her or cheated on her or anything? ...so there's clearly some control issues up in that narrow mellon of hers. Sure it sucked way back in the day -to me- and it took me a while to get over her because we were an item for so long, but I've been over her and through other relationships since then and don't understand what the flippin' beef is over? Some people can be petty, I guess? But holy crap, that's super-mega-über-petty!
I'm thinkin' it's one of these options...
a) she broke up with me and regretted it because it didn't cave my world in and didn't get the desired result
b) she's dated too many losers and hates men now
c) has hard feelings because I didn't go chasing after her cruel, judgmental ass after she broke up with me.
d) has become a lesbian
e) has not found another penis that can fill the void I left between her thighs.
f) gets off on threatening the elderly
g) I have no flippin' idea, add your own creative explanation if you can come up with one. This could get interesting.
Any way I can look at it, she must still love the shit out of me to react like that after all these years. Not like I'd ever want to be in the same state as someone that crazy, but you have to have pretty strong feelings for someone to give that much of a shit. I mean... I'm still clearly living in her head rent-free, still, after 14 years. If "A-F" are wrong, and you don't care to "G", then is there anyone else here glad they dodged a bullet, a crazy psycho bullet, and live to tell about it? No? Okay, then who here other than Tark has threatened a senior citizen because they complimented you?
