Joe Wilson
One of the more comic/tragic things about American society today is to hear otherwise smart level-headed people endlessly parroting their favorite line from a talk-show host whose only qualification to be a talk-show host is their continuously running mouth. You know the type: "Wow, Savage is so right: liberalism IS a mental disease." "The only way we're going to fix what's wrong with this country is to kill George W. Bush." Some of these people can't even tie their shoes without some loud moron with a microphone in his hand telling them how. The cause of an informed electorate is not served by what passes for political debate in this era, where everyone is compelled to take sides and facts take a back seat to agendas.
was it?
i heard that on two occasions republicans (presumably) tried to add in rules to the bills that specifically stated that illegals couldn't be eligible and both times the proposals were denied. wish i had a source for this.
and :lmao: at all the "president deserves respect regardless" commentary. i guess you guys suffer from shortterm memory...

Common courtesy = not interrupting someone while they're talking.

In 2004, Democrats delivered a “Chorus Of Boos” during Bush's Bush’s State Of The Union when he called for renewal of the Patriot Act., according to the Washington Times.
In 2005, Dems howled, hissed and shouted "No!" when Bush pushed for Social Security reform in the SOU: "Foreshadowing the contentiousness of the coming debate, Democrats broke decorum and booed twice," according to the National Journal.
At the time, CNN's Bill Schneider remarked, “It was unusual. I had never heard it at least at that level before. The Democrats clearly were booing, heckling, saying no when the president talked about the crisis in Social Security."

like i said, shortterm memory.
Just because a proposal gets denied doesn't mean that was the cause. You know this happens all the time in trying to get a bill passed. Representatives will vote no on a bill due to pork barrel spending or other billions of earmarks and then their opponents will use that no vote saying "my opposition doesn't support giving our troops flack jackets!".
Moreover, Obama's claim that illegal immigrants won't be covered -- which sparked Wilson's outburst -- while technically accurate, doesn't quite tell the entire story. Some of the bills being considered in the House and Senate contain provisions locking in local statutes that prevent providers from inquiring about immigration status prior to treatment. And illegals are treated, and are bound to be treated, in ERs, covered by local, state and federal uninsured pools.
