Top for sure.

1- Don't have to hear people stomping around above you
2- Less chance of a break-in/robbery through the bedroom windows

It's not exactly convenient to always be walking up stairs, but worth it in my opinion.

Top for security, but with a motorcycle and a large dog, bottom is much nicer.

Top for quiet & safety, as long as the stairs are decent and won't be a total hassle to move stuff up. Nothing destroys a good night's sleep like your upstairs neighbors stomping around or blasting their music.

Which reminds me. One of the two guys pled guilty last week. He got TEN YEARS in jail. The second defendent is still pleading not guilty... his trial got pushed back to November. I'm betting his lawyers weren't too happy with the 10 year sentence received by the other defendent.

Depends on your furniture situation, but if you have easily moveable furniture, I'd pick the top. Nobody walking around upstairs making noise. In my old apt, if the guy upstairs got up to take a piss at night, I would know about it.

doesn't matter, each apt has its own pros cons:

upstairs:
1. don't get annoyed by upstairs neighbor
2. less likely to get your place robbed

downstairs:
1. groceries easier to transport
2. moving easier
3. in case of fire, easier escape.
