It is a process called "stamping"

They use rubber templates that remind you of ink stamps, and then take a tamping plate and hit the stamps down into the concrete.

Here is a video showing what I am talking about. Stamping process is at the 0:38 mark.

Thanks Hatch, you aren't to awful far from me

Here is progress from yesterday. Should be finishing up the roof tonight or tomorrow (ridge vent and cap), tomorrow building the stairs from the house into the garage, and then this weekend digging all of the trenches for gas, electric, water and sewer. I will also be putting the recessed lighting in of an evening when it is to dark to work outside and getting the rest of the electrical boxes in and cleaning up the rest of the mess left by the framer.

Concrete Floor in the garage

Porches now that the concrete has cured out some.

Hey Swaggs, I'm gonna be starting construction on my own house in the next couple of months (1400 sq ft rancher). Just wondering what - if anything - you'd do differently. And what you could not live without doing again? Cus your place is coming along nice, and looking great.

Thanks for the compliment

There are a lot of things I love about the house, and some things I don't like.

Here are some things I have learned:

Superior Wall is awesome, I cannot say enough about them.
Pre-Built trusses are great, but on a ranch style, they are definitely not necessary
Make your master bedroom as big as you can, no matter how big the walk-in closet is.
Recessed lighting fixtures are cheap, it is the trim that will cost you dearly.
People will try to rip you of as much as you let them, so pay very close attention to what is going on.
Fiberglass doors are much more economical than say Pella doors, and if I didn't tell you, you would never know the difference.

I think that is everything I can think of right now, if I come up with more I will post it up.

Sorry it took this long to respond to it. It was the NuTone IMA 3303L with remote stations. It has a LOT of bells and whistles.

The master station is about $500 and the remote stations are about $30 each.
