Default Computer crew: external hdd

I want an external HDD to store and back up my music and video collection.

500gb is more than enough for me right now.

Which brands should I be looking at? I'd like something that won't crap out on me.

Thanks. :af:

Seagate or Western Digital. Go ahead and get a 1TB if you can afford it or find a good deal. You'll find something to archive on it. I filled my 300gb up before I knew it and wish I had a bigger one.

I have a maxtor at home (cheap) and seagate at work I believe. Both work fine, no problems to speak of.

I'm happy w/ my Buffalo 500g. It has different connections for whatever your needs are: USB 2.0 x1, FW400 x1, FW800 x2, eSATA x1

I was gonna say Western Digital. I back up all my photos on DVD and then a MyBook. I recently got a WD passport for traveling. Good choice.
