Karma 1: Homeless dude 0
my friend keeps some fast food gift certificates to give to homeless people. atleast you know if they use it, it'll be on food and not booze
i usually don't give anything unless i have leftovers from a restaurant or something with me.

my buddy walked by a homeless guy and he asked for money my friend ignored him. my friend walked by him again 3 hours later drinking a snapple on his way home. the homeless guy said "you cant give me anything but you buy a fucking snapple you fat fuck". my friend whipped the bottle at his head and knocked him out. karma got that guy.
I deal with bums a lot in my line of work. If they ask me for money, I say, "you want some liquor instead?", they say yes, and i say "wrong answer". I've done this dozens of times and it never fails. :dunno:
there's this homeless dude here that makes mad bank begging. only tourists fall for his BS. He's missing an arm, he sits on his coat instead of wearing it... even in winter. I never give him shit. I don understand how people are homeless here. I mean i get the mental illness part but god damn everyone is protected by social welfare
One time I went to a Mobil to get some gas in the winter time. It must have been like 10 degrees outside, it was like January in NY. While I was pumping gas, I saw this homeless guy digging through one of the garbage cans between the pumps. We made eye contact and he didn't ask for a damn thing. I went into the shop and bought a drink for myself and when I was walking back out to my car, the guy was pulling some plastic bottles out of the trash can. I walked over to him, handed him a 20 and said "Here, why don't you go grab something warm to eat." He looked up at me and it almost looked like he was ashamed but very grateful. He replied "Thanks buddy..." And I went back to my car.
I didn't mind helping him because he was doing what he could on his own to try to get a few dollars together and he wasn't bothering anyone or begging for cash. I could tell, I definitely made his night. I just hope he made it through that winter, because it was a damn cold one.

A couple hobo stories from my visit to Chicago a couple months ago:
1) I was walking down the street and some guy asked for 80 cents, as if he has something specific he wanted to buy. I gave him a quarter and went inside. About 5 minutes later I came back out and walked by him again and he asked for 80 cents again.
2) One guy asked me for change and I didn't have any (I generally don't give any even if I have some). He apparently took offense to that because I was wearing a nice suede jacket and if I was dressed that well, I must have change. So he followed me for three blocks ranting about how "if you don't have any money looking like that, you might as well shoot yourself."
There are plenty of hobos in Boulder, but they leave you alone for the most part.

i dont give them fuckfaces any money. even if it's pennies. i used to offer food if i was already at a fastfood joint, but fuck that too. i gave a breakfast sandwich to a bum once at a jack in the box. motherfucker takes it and throws it away. FUCK U AND UR MENTAL ILLNESS. zero sympathy for bums.
I typically only give money to homeless people when I'm drunk. The smart bums hang out outside of bars late at night and prey off drunkards who are more liberal with their finances when their BAC is in excess of the legal limit

Can't go bad by give a couple if bucks to a homeless dude if you're with a chick
Best is to give them the doggy bag. I always just take it and if I don't see any one to give it to I just leave it by the trash... I also try to take plastic ustensils and napkins when possible.
