saw on the news that there were i think 8 fatal crashes in our area over the holiday weekend, all of them w/ people not wearing seat belts. so yeah, id say its important to remind people

only time i dont wear mine is if just re-parking my car or moving it down the block. but sometimes i buckle it out of habit anyway

Yes, it's a good idea. But should it be the law? I think not.

Just like helmets. You are not hurting anyone else by your stupidity, so, meh.

I got me a no front plate and heavy tint a few weeks back. Sucks because I see people ALL the time with the same situation in my neighborhood where I now see 2-4 cops patrolling a day who they just drive past them.

And fix it tickets are now $25 instead of $10 :madr:

mostly just wear mine cause of that annoying beeping. i did get one a couple of years back at ocean city, i was wearing it, but instead of giving me a ticket that would give me points and a bigger fine, he just gave me a seatbelt ticket.

That's another law that should go away. It's primary purpose is invasion of privacy. At least that's the justification in Iowa.

Florida has a much leaner law. And effectively unenforced.

My mom's ex boyfriend used to be a firefighter and NEVER wore his seatbelt. He said he saw too many times where people died because they had their belt on. He said he'd rather get thrown free from the car and chance it.

I called him an idiot.

I wear mine religiously. Besides, don't most cars now annoy the fuck out of you if you don't properly fasten your belt?

MA started this click it or ticket campaign, but the police can not pull you over for not wearing a seatbelt. they have to get you with something else. it was in the paper a couple weeks ago they are trying to pass a law where they can pull you over for not wearing a seatbelt. i was confused. I still am.

On my drive in to work today I saw a couple of people dressed up like crash test dummies on the side of the road holding "Click it or Ticket" signs.

When I was 18 I was in a head on collison with another vehicle. I was maybe going 2-3mph, the other driver was going about 25 - 30mph. I had my seatbelt on and had no injuries. The girl driving the other car wasn't wearing her seatbelt and broke the windshield with her forehead.

So even at city speeds the seatbelt can help out.
