For a Reuben I just go here...

Zingerman's Deli

BTW my son has a sandwich named after him there also..."The Big Roar Burger"...like all the sandwiches at Zingerman's it's big enough to feed two.

Well if I drove around to the store, bought all the ingredients I'd spend almost as much...

Gas...30 miles to the store and back
Time...at least an hour and half just to get the needed ingredients and the drive
Then I have to mess with making the sandwich
and finally cleaning up the mess.

Besides that Reuben will feed both my wife and me.

and then after driving and buying all of the stuff for that much, you could make like 10 sandwiches.

I don't know where you buy your meat but 14.50 will get about a pound of good corned beef or pastrami, which will make about 4 sandwiches, a loaf of bread will cost me 3.99 then whatever the cost of the TI dressing, and a couple of bucks for the sauerkraut etc. then I've spent an hour and half of my time which when I was working would have been ~$81.00 but since I'm not working my benefit pay is ~$15 driving 30 miles at the government rate of 58.5cents a mile equals ~17.55 or at the charitable rate of .14/mile still equals 4.20...

Then I have to wash the griddle...and so it goes.

You pay $3.99 for a loaf of bread? Buy it on sale! I get my delicious potato bread for ~$2.

My wife and I don't eat a lot of bread so we don't buy it very often and when we do we buy it from a bakery and get it sliced. You need a good rye bread to make reubens.
