we kind of like the bookshelf, but may end up removing it. it's kind of built into the mantle (it's all one piece on top), so we'd have to redo that too. and the carpet only goes up to the bookshelf, so we'd have to lay some down where it was.

the plan for the tv is probably what you were saying. have a link to the mount you used?

as for sites, i've been on www.hammerzone.com a lot lately. just has articles, but it's been really helpful. i've also been on this old house, although it's more for houses older than mine (but i has helped since i have plaster walls like alot of old houses).

you should replace it with something taller or shorter, but not the same height as the fireplace.

Also, fyi, i purchased the faux-wood plantation shutter style blinds online for a LOT less than local prices. Installtion is straight forward. Its a great alternative to curtains if you're looking for window treatments in the bedrooms
got a link for the shutters?

We're planning on putting these in some of our rooms. We already have them picked out and just need to set up a time for installation. We're getting it done through Lowe's. I underestimate my handiness. :hs:

If you're getting a deal on it then don't bother installing. Really it's only 4 screws per window (maybe 6 if it's a large window)

I wanted to have shutters, but I'm too poor.

^Very nice. I think my biggest cost to take on next will be window coverings. It's been almost a year and we're still rocking the temporary paper shades on most of the windows. :chuckles:

Hit me up if you have any questions. I won't say I'm a pro, but I've probably tried to do most everything. - The TeamBoB way.

window treatments definitely get expensive. the ones in the living room were the only ones we've gotten so far, and we have atleast 9 more to do. i think we spent about 100 bucks just on those ones. :noes:

Yeah, I figured up something like $2500-$3000 for my whole house. :run:

Hence, the paper shades for now.
