depends where you go dude... you just have to be carefull a bit. Like if you want to do a safari in Kenya you're gonna be fine. If you go out in Nairobi downtown and get lost you'll probably get robbed. You can't just explore like that. But again thats in Nairobi. In S-A it's usually safer for tourists. Specially witht he up coming World Cup.
Spain and Portugal are on my list of places to visit. how did the whole phone thing work out for you?

my plans changed so much ... first it was scotland $2000~ -> spain $1500-> portugal $1000-> california $700-> quebec $400-> ottawa $270 for the hotel stay :sad: ....

Plane was $1k, hotels for 10 nights were like $400 + some reward points . Misc stuff including train and soccer tickets were like $500. Used D70. I stayed at hotels.

I got tired of the ham quickly. They are really salty there. I saw some of the legs of ham...500+ euros!
