Well, according to the law, Police aren't required to protect individuals anyway. Their only obligation is to 'society' as a whole. So a cop wouldn't do you much good either.

Yeah they have that same bullshit rule here. I wrote the judge requesting removal of the restrictions on my permit and he wrote back saying that I don't have any special circumstances requiring me to carry one. Yet, word has it that he has granted them to several of his friends and family members.
