The API lobby will push hydrogen because it will give them a commodity to sell. That doesn't mean there aren't serious logistical issues that have to be overcome first.

That being said, I'm keeping a keen eye on the Aptera Typ-h.

Bio-diesel hybrid with green-technology emissions and solar paneled roof. Renewable fuel, torque, and range. This should be the new era, but it won't be. We will go on for years with 40-50mpg gassers and diesels with a few pushing 100mpg's but at a space and feature expense. Big oil has too much pull in the legislature to allow a huge portion of it's users to escape it's grip through "fair" competition. This is a corporation not a country, with enough money there is no fair game.

Sadly, I not only had the idea for this soooo long ago. But I actually did it, with a toy car. Well partly. The hood and trunk fell off so I stretched some left over cloth that mom was sewing something, over it.

I think it's great they are exploring other forms of energy for cars, but I don't think batteries are the way to go. Batteries are not environmentally friendly to make or dispose of. Think of all the energy that goes into making them and all the energy that will go into charging them. Many power companies are coal or natural gas. The prices on these are starting to go up.(thanks again China) The price of energy is not going down and our power grid is stressed enough with out adding battery chargers to it. We need to start working more on the atomic level. What we need is a Mr Fusion.

I prefer the venture version.

based on the technology from the Carver One which has sold many cars in Netherlands

They need to make the top panels solar panels on the electric cars, so they charge while the sun is outh:

There are hundreds of hobbyists who are already getting crazy mileage out of the prius by adding batteries, adding external charging, changing the ecu programs and how it handles energy/gas- not to mention featherweight feet

Production models can't be that far off

I think the plug-in hybrids let you use power from the electric company (who can make it more cheaper and cleaner) instead of just from the cars generator.

I'm waiting for a diesel/electric hybrid. Trains have been doing it forever, why not in cars.
