Ah yes... so many posts about how macs are better for graphics. This was true about 10 years ago and the reputation has stuck. However their performance and ease has not. PC's are much more widely used in graphics processing today.

Will you get laughed at for useing a PC if you walk into a graphics design shop? Sure, they'll laugh only to mock the way that people think that the Mac people would laugh at you. Mac's are pretty and have more eye candy. They can do pretty much the same things that pc's/windows do... just have some fancy buttons and diffrent wording for the same features.

I'm for PC's... in case you can't tell. I used to go around to local schools and clean/fix computers. Most schools would have at least one "lab" for each type of computer. Typical lines would be "the mac lab is all broken again" ... "the pc lab? they never crash! what's wrong with the mac's?" ... "we need to replace the mac lab with more pc's". Granted they were used by grade school/high school students all day. But it was mostly the Mac's that had problems.

Mac's are EXPENSIVE!!! Flashback again to when I was working at schools on pc's/mac's... a cdrom drive for a pc was about $80-100. Mac? $300-400. For slower drives... why? Cause they are SCSI and apple can charge what they want... you have no choice. (schools had special contracts)

Ease of use? That's an opinion. I think Windows is easier than OS 9 or OS X. There are plenty that would argue otherwise.

Macs USED TO BE the bomb for graphics. PC's have surpassed them a couple years ago, but the MAC/Graphics reputation has stuck. Unfortunatly.

at least w/ pc you have a choice, you can have the speed of scsi or the cost of ide.... but no one can disagree that sparc hardware is better than both pc and mac.....

that is much better and cooler "eye candy" i might add for enlightment (if that is what you want to waste your memory on)

I have 7 computers and all of them are PC, my next major computer purchase will be a Mac.

I started on Mac way back in the days (when Apple first took a bite of the market) and I liked them. I have used them occasionally here and there but not frequently.

Gaming on them is a bit tough and emulators only go so far, but Mac is for business and PC is for play...simple as that, because when you have to have it done without crashing repeatedly a Mac will be the one to do it.

As for reading the ISO files and other burn programs...there is a copy of Nero that works for the Mac and as I said before a Windows emulator will clear the rest of that up and make them readable.

wrong.........sorry buddy but please dont take in account OS's when comparing architectures. im not siding w/ PC's because im thrilled that mac has embraced unix. mac does have some nice servers but a sun sparc would kick its ass. "crashing repeatedly" well my workstation at work has been up over 30 days, and i have had workstations up for more than a year..... its not the hardware its the software..... hardware wise intel is better than ppc (sparc is better according to many people much smarter than me)

I will try to civily disagree with that also. I've seen pc's that do nothing but crash. I've seen mac's that do nothing but crash. I've seen pc's that I've never seen crash. I've also seen Mac's that have never crashed. To say one crashes more than the other, I consider, is only an opinion based on personel experiance or rumors heard on TV or word of mouth. Same with "macs are better for graphics" They used to be, but PC's have long surpassed Mac's in that department as well. Just for reference... all the Apple computers in the world only make up less than 5% of the entire population of computers.

I use Windows 2k at work for my main pc and XP for the test box. Neither have ever locked up, crashed, been incompatable with anything, gotten slow the longer you leave them on. The only time I reboot is if I kick the power cord or install an update. At home I use XP on 2 machines and Linux on one. None of them have ever crashed either. (not including human intervention such as not seeing the pc is on and start to rip out cards. RFC for PCI does not define HotSwap in anyway!! opps)

I've done work on Mac's that worked fine, never saw them crash. But I've also been around tons that have... pc's too. PC vs Mac is like Ford vs Chevy... it's more of an opinion than anything else. I prefer PC and don't care for Ford or Chevy.

Nice to see how apples market share had dropped to less than 4% for 2001.... and for 2002 it was just under 3.5%. Steve Jobs (the big guy at the head of the company) is high tailing it outta there. He's already said he's quitting.

Business makes up more than 3.5% of the worlds computers... and they are not Mac. Something tells me that Apple has a fomula for destruction but they have it pointed in the wrong direction. It's gunna take some big miracles to get them going in the other direction. ok... rant off.

Computers aren't high-margin boutique items any more. Apple is constantly in trouble because they constantly fail to recognize this simple fact. They keep on selling obsolete technology at premium prices, thinking they can fool all the people all the time. But at 3.5% they aren't even fooling the majority of insane people.
