try the battery....should be cheap.

i have gotten cmos errors for a year or so off and on, figured the battery needed replacement
how do i find exactly what kind of battery i need?

mobo worth trying to replace on a laptop or not worth the hassle?

if youre asking how hard it is then it's not worth the hassle, imo. you can find a used good condition laptop on the cheap

overheating cpu - -- would boot up but shut off due to excessive heat build ( usually due to shitty fan ( dust build up in fan ) or lack of cpu compound.
bad ram - may boot but will blue screen

all of the above = no boot


But In this case, sounds like something did fry on the M.B yet.....or you may need an exorcist.
