i think i just threw up in my mouth a little...
I don't think it's all that bad looking. I wouldn't sport it though. While GM and Ford have increased their quality over the last few years, they still seem cheap to me. Just not as cheap.
The problem with Ford and GM is that they're entry level economy vehicles still have a cheap tacky appearance. It gives me a bad taste about the rest of their vehicles that are probably just fine. I think an auto company should be judged by their entry level vehicles. Any auto maker can invest a lot of money into a high performance vehicle. Almost every auto maker (hell, even Hyundai) has some really nice kick ass high performance vehicles that they've built a few hundred or thousand of. But for an auto company to put out a half million economy cars that are solid as a rock, run forever and look good, that's impressive. GM and Ford have not done that. The Corolla, Civic and Sentra are good examples. The Cavalier and Focus are not. On the flip side, Dodge actually did a decent job with the Neon though so kudos to them.

the problem with the hybrid trend what do you do when the battery stops holding a charge where do you dispose of a 80lbs battery full of nasty chemicals.

seriously? are you?
the cavaliers maybe they dont look good to you but reliability wise they rival the civics. the focus is relatively new so overall reliability is yet to be really seen in terms of a long term basis.
as for the neon, never was there a bigger piece of crap that was dodge motors. the thing was one big pile of crap, the only thing going for it was its pricetag and that sadly was offset by the frequency with which it needed to be repaired
ford had the tempo, which maybe boxy but things run forever and you can beat them to piss.
i know a couple people that had tempos with 200k on them. the neons intake and exhausst headers were made of plastic. my sister had 2 neons, and both engines blew up on her. luckily they were repaired for liek 500 bucks.
god damn those things were bomb proof, we had a buddy with a corsica, if the trails werent to wet we would take that offroading instead of trucks cuz we could fit more people in 1 vehicle
