That is awesome! My kind of fishing trip.

 

Has anyone ever went ice fishing? I haven't but I assume that has to be the most boring thing to do ever. Sit around next to a hole and hope you catch something.

yea its a blast, i get to go on that trip every other year ... working on getting a yearly spot but its tough.

arvin-meritor (gabrial shocks among other aftermarket brands) pays for the trip. its a promo thing they do for customers, they cover all beer (whatever we want to take in), liquer , food, everything except our license and the gas to get to the dock in canada... they even buy 3 boxes of cuban cigars a year for us ... the rep just gives them a total and as many receipts as he can get and they reimburse him for everything. and since he's a buddy of mine im an automatic in for the trip at least every other year.

 

fuck that i love ice fishing

get up, get the sleds, head to the shanty (if we put one up that year). get inside turn on the heater, open a beer and start getting drunk. radios and tv's sometimes make the trip too

nothing like working all day then headin to the shanty to get drunk and fish till 2 am with the guys

 

I guess if you put it that way it can be fun. I was thinking of some dude sitting on a chair next to a hole waiting for a bite. Did you ever see that episode of Home Improvement of Tim and Al ice fishing? Freaking hilarious. :chuckles: Beer + fishing = Ultimate

 

well yea its that way for alot of people .... i've been there

but you have to remember ... the number 1 accessory for any type of fishing is beer. where i come from the number of empty bottles is an easier way to tell how good a day it was than the number of fish caught

 

I'm into ultralight spinning 4# test and under mostly favorite is a Penn 4200SS reel on a Gary Loomis CF rod. I have one rig for heavy weeds...loaded with 17# test.
