Any fishers in here? v. recommendations
I believe casters are those that let out 5000 ft of string then toss it as far as they can. Spinning, you hold the button/string, toss it then reel in to lock and spin the line back in.
I have pictures of the lake that I go to i'll post them when I get home later.

I am a caster fan...speaking of which I need a new reel as well all I have right now is spinners and I hate them

casters ... have a form of button release and are designed primarly for just what they say ... casting
spinners are my personal favorite, require a lil more finese than a caster but i personally think it allows for a much better feel and control of what im doing. spinners are the open head style with the cam that bobs up and down as you reel in.
depends on what, where and when im fishing
walleye - generally use a harness setup : bottom bouncer with a 3 ft spinner lead double hooked with a worm and a dusting of wd40 for deep water / cold(years of canada fishing have produced me a awesome setup). jigs for stationary fishing over deep holes.
pike - well pike hit of anything anytime, but i usually work well with daredevils anytime and rapellas along shore. yellow or orange rapellas in the eveing (work good with walleye too)
whitefish - whitefish are so hit and miss imo ... i catch them on everything but they have such a soft soft mouth have to be careful depending on what they hit on, during hatch season for may flies ... flies work awesome.
perch - well perch hit much like walleye ... in fact i usually catch perch on the edge of walleye schools.
and if im ice fishing i use minnows or grubs or meal worms ... perch and walleye love that shit in the winter.
my tackle boxes are stocked well but with very few types of tools simply because i know what works and i dont try all the other fancy crap
wrong

:chuckles:
the one you were thinking of first is fly fishing ... its a art for sure. i've tried it a couple times, take a class once ... its not as easy as you would think.
i'd rather tie the flies than fish the sport
fly tying can be very relaxing

i have a few daiwa setups, but i'm a die-hard shimano guy.
also, while spinning setups are easier to cast, conventional reels keep the line from getting all twisty, which unless you're using really heavy weight shows up in the water.
