no salary cap + no revenue sharing = this

It's been proven that money doesn't buy titles. The 03 Marlins, 05 White Sox, and 06 Cardinals had fairly small payrolls, most of which a fraction of what the Yankees pay out.

Again though, A-Rod isn't forcing the Yankees pay for his services. Because of the guys ability to draw an audience, put up HUGE numbers, and be foretasted as the "one to break Bonds" ... he's getting paid.

To the Yankees, this is all good money spent. It's all business ...
1. They need A-Rod for their YES Network.
2. The new Yankee Stadium will have 51,800 seats, (6,000 less than the current one) but will feature lots more luxury boxes and premium views.
3. Steinbrenner wants to win more than anything else.

But is that worth 20+ million for 5 months of work - if you want to call it work? To hit a fucking ball? Sure, other sports fall under the same scope but you dont see tennis and soccer players (who I think are more skilled than baseball) abusing anything.

You're not necessarily paying for simply their performance. You're paying for what they bring (ticket sales, merch sales).

Are actors talented? Yes. Is their effort alone worth $15 mil when they take only 3 months to shoot a movie? Hell no. But they bring in huge money for the production companies so they're worth it.

you know 20 mil is not the avg salary? and in how many other sports do you play 162 games in a season and possibly play 10 days in a row? unless you're like a DH h: you can't just be some lazy ass off the street

and how can tennis be more skilled? you have a bigger surface area to hit a ball the same size :hs:
