for my case i went with thermaltake va3000bna. it's not any wider than any other case i've used before but I made sure that I don't have any fans or special vents on the side panel. i can measure the width tomorrow if you need it.

the heatsink is quite big but not super duper big/tall.

umm tons. but it's fairly easy, you just bump the front side bus speed little by little. then once you hit a the limit, you bump the voltage on the cpu a tiny smidgen to see if it become stable.

Thanks. Just to give you an idea, I'm building this thing to be optimized for multitasking, encoding media, and mass amounts of storage. Rarely it'll be running games so I'm not getting an SLi board

i'm not running it on an SLi board either. I wouldn't oc too high if your doing the above. just to minimize potential data corruption, although risk of that is fairly low these days.

i wanted stability to I lowered it to 3.0 from 3.4ghz.

that's pretty irrelevant information now. you're talking about when the cpu dye size was 4x what it is now for 4 cores and 6mb of cache on that dye.

Are mobo BIOS these days pretty much idiotproof so a monkey like myself could fiddle around with the settings without blowing it up?
