What's a good HD brand? I've currently set my sights on Seagates and Samsungs, is it true the Samsungs are quiet?

Is it worth paying extra for a 32mb cache drive?

the price difference was minimal so i went with 32mb.

32mb isn't much that's like .5seconds of data. well less then that since only needed data is transmitted. but it's better than 1mb of the old days

Cool, thus I found this Seagate 250gb 32mb cache. for 80 bux, I'll make two partitions for the OS and apps and use my existing IDE drive until I find some sweet deal. Bueno?

Now here's a question I'll probably get flamed for...I'm wanting to go Vista 64-bit to take advantage of the 4gb's of RAM... I read some reviews and noticed that recently most people aren't having conflict issues.....especially since the arrival of SP1. You think I'll be ok? All the I/O devices I have are supported with the appriopate drivers...

you wont have that much of a trouble with hardware. it's the software that you might run into trouble. if you can manage to get vista 64-bit software, you should be okay. when you try to load vista 32-bit software is where you may get into some trouble.

How much of a difference is it between 32 and 64 bit when it comes to graphics?

I'm getting the Samsung 206BW or 226BW if it matters:

OS wont matter. it wont be the limting factor. the limiting factor will be the panel. 10bit 8bit or even 6 bit. 10bit is the best and can reproduce the full range of colors. that is if that is what you need. 10bit panels are expensive.
