I'm thinking about converting my bike to a fixed gear.

Gears are just a PITA on a commuter bike.

If you live down south I personally wouldn't ride to work. Too hot and like someone else said you get all sweaty in your shit and it takes a while to cool down. Not worth making your first 30mins of work absolutely miserable.

Unless the office has showers, then I'd be all for it. Wear bike stuff to work, shower, change into work shit then off with the day!

Not at all the same. Have you ridden a fixie? So much more control. More feeling. Less things to break.

I rather have gears since I ride with elevation changes.

And I like coasting.

I used to not have a car. It wasn't SO bad in Montreal, but with the bus and metro it took a while to get to school and work.

If I lived in a city where everything was closer i'd have no problem.
