yeah i don't make a deal about it....figure the less people that know you are armed the better cause alot of people get wierded out when they find out.

it is a personal choice that i for one exercised. i don't carry as much as i did when i first got my carry permit, but when i feel the need, i do.

gf at the time of the 1st story also knew that there was a loaded revolver in my car at all times. she knew where it was & how to use it...if need be

thanks...i wholeheartedly believe that it is a personal decision that every person has to make for themselves, but have always believed what my dad told people when asked why he carried a gun & if he worried about the ramifications from using it:

I'd rather be judged by 13 than carried by 6

meaning, i'd rather be in court defending myself & my actions than me or someone i cared about be dead cause i couldn't defend my life or theirs....

i know some people will see that quote as some "wild west" type saying, but if you hadn't noticed....it's a mad mad world

*climbs down off soapbox*

Dumb question ... what is the legal age to carry?

18? 21?

i dont feel safer with a gun, but i do feel safer with "you" not having one

"safety" is just a feeling, it doesnt mean you are any safer, and thats how i feel about guns, it gives people the feeling of safety, but places them in more danger because of it

i appreciate the stories about gun usage, and i am glad that those of you that have used a weapon in a dangerous situation are here to tell about it

i see you still havent gotten it through your head that those who want to commit a crime will have a gun regardless if someone says its wrong or not

wether you believe it or not, "safety" is not a perceived feeling...it is a reality

MF'n :werd: .....i'm just trying to level the playing field. i'm sure that dudes in 1st story wouldn't have even tried if they had known that i was armed.

think about it...if you were a criminal, wouldn't you be less likely to try to rob somebody if you knew there was a chance that they were armed as well??

i'm just sayin.....

yes, there are some stupid, crazy mofo's that own guns, but i think as long as i'm not breaking the law, your percevied "fear" of me or somebody else who choses to carry a gun to protect myself or people i care about doesn't matter for shit

It's cliche but if you outlaw guns only outlaws will have guns.

Please explain your opinion that people with ccw are in more danger. I don't see it.

Then whos to say you having a gun will prevent the crime? Unless you are able to strike first, then I dont see any good coming out of it.

Obviously its a different story if they have an inferior weapon though, but if thats the case, disarming them "should" be easier and shouldnt require you shooting them.

Ive never been in these type of situations though, but not many have.

see my post #49 above......

story #1....crime stopped cause i was armed as well. criminals prefer an unarmed victim.

story #2....person w/ an inferor weapon, but crazed...crazy is a wild card ya know. i "disarmed" him cause i was legally armed with a superior weapon. if i had chosen to kill him, i could have. in the fraction of a second i had to react, i chose to shoot him in the shoulder in the hopes that it would stop &/or disarm him....which it did. i have no doubt that if it hadn't, the 2nd shot(or however many it took) i would have tried for center mass to kill him. if it had come down to the choice in his life or mine, then i chose me

thankfully, the state i live in realizes that the police or legal court orders can't protect you 100% of the time & allow me the freedom to protect my life & the lives of people i care about

that being said, i believe there is a place for some forms of gun control & that there also should be stiffer penalties for those that use guns to break the law
