CCW...YAY or NAY?
Ive watched people get Robbed, while they had their gun on them and they froze and did nothing.
carrying a concead weapon won't stop you from being a victim
trust me on this one:rofl:
I belive it is the right of every man or women to bare arms
if they choose
i'm not generalizing at all. i'm making a point. if i have to defend myself, i want to use the best tool for the job. a gun is a tool just as a knife, an ASP, OC, etc.
i'm not saying everyone who wants to defend themselves should carry a gun. carry what you want. my argument is that just because YOU feel that YOU should not/do not/will not need a gun to protect yourself doesn't mean I should have to give up my right to own/carry/use one to protect myself.
1) one nite, my gf & i were downtown. we had dinner & were walking back to my car. it was around 10-11pm on a fri eve. we heard a group of 3 guys behind us mumbling. we turned down the alley that led to the parking garage where we were parked when i heard one of them yell "give me your wallet". i turned around & 2 of them had knives drawn. i drew my gun & calmly said "excuse me?" they both dropped their knives & all 3 ran off. no shots fired, but i have no doubt in my mind that if i hadn't been legally armed that nite, it would've been a much different outcome
2) girl i knew was being stalked. she had a restraining order against the guy. she said she had seen him driving up & down her street. she called the cops & they sent a car by, but they never saw the guy & told her there wasn't much else they could do. i went by to spend the night on the couch. about 2 am, i heard the sliding glass door in another room get busted out. i ran in there w/ my gun in hand to see him come thru the busted door w/ an axe in hand. i yelled "stop or i WILL shoot you" he didn't stop, so i shot him once in the shoulder. he was arrested & last i heard was still in prison for stalking & some parole violations. cops took my gun for 7 days to run standard ballistics & such & then it was returned to me. once again...no gun=much different outcome
i completly believe in people's right to own a gun & be able to carry it legally....provided you are trained to use it.
then again, if you can't actually pull the trigger if it comes down to it, then no, i don't think you should carry cause in the end, it'll probably be used on you if they get it away from you
that is their right, & like spanky's thread awhile back about the wing's restaurant, it also my right not to give my business to places that don't allow me to excercise my right to carry.....

Thanks for those stories, James. It takes first hand accounts from people for persons on the edge to understand it could happen to anyone. Thankfully I've not faced the necessity but I know that if the time comes, I will be armed.
Also I'm scheduled to take a Tactical Shotgun course in May and hopefully a couple Fighting Pistol and/or Rifle courses at some point as well.
