to me its more like this
you carry a gun for the what if"s of life
does that mean you drive a hummer, just in case of a car accident?
or do you make sure to test all your food at a restaurant just in case you were poisened?
these are just as ridiculous as needing a gun in my eyes, and i know you guys wont agree with that, but its how i see it

yes, just like you think that everyone should have the right to carry a gun because you want to carry one

i know of one friend of mine who has a ccw permit and carries at most times, i am around guns, but im around them less than someone who carries is
and a sheep because i dont carry? right, im sure you really believe that bs, if you think a gun can make you a lion and not a sheep i hope i am never around you with a gun

lets say that the number of guns any random person is around at any given moment is X
if that person is a ccw holder then that number is X+1
X+1>X
im not going to call it a causation, but there is a correlation between this number being higher and the probability of a gun crime happening to you

here is my basic idea of why i dont like people having guns
you are in a room with 20 people
say one guy in that room has a gun, how safe do you feel?
give every person in that room a gun, how safe do you feel now?
now take away all the guns in the room, how safe do you feel now?
how about put an armed guard outside the room, and no guns in the room, how about now?

i'm not "sidestepping" any laws whatsoever

there is no regulation that requires documentation when one individual sells a long gun to a another individual.

all im doing as aquiring the gun from another private owner.

there is no registration requirement for long guns.

i would call lying to the government about where you got your guns "sidestepping"
the government put many laws and regulations in place to help keep track of guns
while there are still many ways to legally obtain a gun without paperwork or with some type of loophole you know thats not what the government wants and it defeats the purpose of all the regulations to begin with

i know you understand this, and i know that its a pita to deal with all the beurocratic bs that they make you fill out or the lists you could be put on for owning guns, but its part of the system that also is designed for our safety, and you not following it only adds to the issues of gun control and hurts your own cause

after reading the gas price thread i think its fair to say that the way i feel about guns is similar in some ways to how you feel about suvs
only some people actually need them and the rest of the population just misuses them and hurts the people around them

There is no registration for long arms. there is no regulation on the private sale of long guns between individuals.

i lied to no one. the govt doesnt know i own these guns. they dont have a law that says they have to know. this is no loophole, this is no sidestep. this is simply how guns are bought and sold through private citizens.

im not hurting any cause by doing this. the govt simply has no clue who owns what gun unless its a sidearm. then there are regulations and requirements for purchase.

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DOES NOT TRACK OWNERSHIP OF LONG GUNS, aside from ones that require specific permits such as full auto weapons.
