i thought the difference in 720p and 1080p was minimal

It depends on the source material. If you have HD-DVD/Blu Ray and a 1080p panel, its worthwhile.

Other factors include screen size and the distance you are sitting from it.

7.5 feet for the benefit to start to become noticeable.

Also, I didn't make this chart, and the person that did may be stupid.

Now when are we going to get some 4K hardware and sources?
