i AM an EMT/Firefighter... it's volunteer though. however, i did get a job offer for a paid EMT/FF position today too haha. anyway..

i'll be able to perform EKG's and handle the front desk stuff, but that's as far as it will go, not to mention that since its a three-employee practice there aren't benefits in the near future. both jobs are in the health care field one working in a medical office and one as a social worker so as far as experience goes either job will fit my needs.

my financial situation is, well, needy. this is my second year running a new construction business as well and that is taking a lot of extra time and i make absolutely no money from it.

are washing machines supposed to make rattling noises? mine's all fubar.

money and benefits ftw... whenever I think about "doing something I want to do," I think about my regular paycheck and health insurance and say fuckit. I'm actually quite happy as far as work goes.

you're still young enough to take chances. it took me 5 tries to semi-succeed. you have time, take a chance or two or three.

Werd! I agree with this too. For me being 35, I really began to pick-up some conservatism about taking chances.

I never really understood the phrase, "Youth is wasted on the young", until I began feeling older. The opportunity to learn as much as you can without jeopardizing your IN on the State position seems like just as good a decision as any.

depending on how well off you are, i'd personally go for the state job and take the extra cash and benefits, then maybe pursue the other job later

well had my interview today, so i'll find out on the 25th. it helps that my possible supervisor is the aunt of two shift captains in my fire department h: for i think the second time in my life i was a name dropper :hsugh:

so this raises another question, since i have worked at my current job for less than a month, do i put in a two-weeks notice or just quit? i am receiving health care and know that they can't refuse to see me based on me quitting, i just don't want them to get an attitude if i don't put in notice and want to continue being seen as a patient. i think the more "mature" ladies and gents can help to answer this one heh

Of course you should give your 2 weeks notice, especially if you plan on continuing to be a patient.
