i might wind up spending about 10-20 more by piecing it all together myself or i might save about 20 but either way i'd rather do it all myself. i mean i feel you lose a bit of the fun if you buy it in 2 pieces and thats all you have to put together.
if by fun you mean trying to get all that shit to work then yeah, fun

I really don't know anything about stag so I really can't help you there. I do prefer to buy the upper and lower from the same company. In theory they should all fit together fine but I think you stand a better chance of a perfect fit if you go with the same company. Oh and since you have an FFL connection have him order the misc parts for you. He should be able to get dealer pricing at Midway, Brownell's, and maybe some other places.

lol @ wiwl Yeah actually it shouldn't be bad at all. The nice thing about what you're doing is you can spend just a little more and have a nicer trigger.

Only tool you need for the lower is a pair of pliers. There is a how to on ar15.com that is pretty good. The thing is EASY to put together. You will just need some patience. The hardest part is putting in the detent pin spring. I would HIGHLY suggest doing that step in a box or bag. Because the pin will be under pressure from the spring, one little slip and the pin will be flying across your room. Also, tape the ends of your pliers so you dont scratch the lower.

Lowers are 90% the same thing...you can pick up bare lowers for $100. Tempting for another one
