best way to hookup pc to receiver?

iirc, green = front channels, yellow = rear channels, black = center/subwoofer.

assuming his receiver has the inputs... it should work

(not as good as a digital output, but still ok )

crap...now i have to look into optical stuff :sad:

besides that hudred dollar sound card anyone have a more frugal suggestion for optical out?

so you dont have analog 5.1 inputs on your receiver?

new soundcard, look into coax s/pdif, the cards will be cheaper... does it have a s/pdif coax input (usually black)

good excuse to upgrade your MB. you can get a cheap MB that will be better than what that has. That looks like a 3-5 year old dell. you can probably a one from newegg or tiger that will have spdif for just a little more than a sound card.

what proc do you have? if its an LGA you can get something like this:

looks like i have optical. and coaxial.

coaxial is probably better for me cause im not big on audio, i just need enough, nothing fancy
