Why don't they just focus on easing energy costs (all types).

That's exactly what the government wants you to do. If you saved it it would be a disaster.
Yes but what are they going to spend it on?? That's the question, go to Walmart and spend it on Chinese goods...Improve the economy of China...

A lot of people will just be using it to pay bills which also isn't what the government has in mind.

The Chinese goods at Walmart are already paid for by Walmart...not us

So by buying at Walmart you not only pay sales tax but you increase Walmarts taxable income thus putting money into the economy

some of these peoples answers crack me up

especially this one:

Unfortunately, I make "too much money" to get a check. Apparently, paying your taxes consistently for almost 28 years puts you lower on the rebate list than someone who doesn't even pay taxes. What a shame that the hard-working middle class gets screwed again. Way to go Madam Speaker. You really helped me out. Thanks for nothing.
isnt the cap at like 100k?

that good sir is not imo "middle class"

people in this country are so fucking dense its rediculous

cap is 75k for full refund, ~95k for partial.

And in some parts of this country, 95k for a single person is middle class. Depends on where that person lives.

ya know what though, if you're single and making 95k a year ... and not getting this $600 check is really that big a deal i have to wonder what you spend your money on to make it so crucial and unfair that you arent getting any

It sounded like his complaint was more about the principal of a middle american long time tax payer not getting the benefit while those who don't pay taxes do benefit, than actually needing the $600.
