If you make a mistake or something just happens that might result in your getting in some sort of trouble down the road, it's always better to have been honest about things with the cops or whatever.

Some people may get away with stuff by lying but in the end, I think him being honest was the way to go. Worse case scenario with him telling the truth wouldn't compare to worse case scenario if he had lied. I think that applies whether you actually did something wrong or you're just defending yourself against BS accusations.

I wasnt suggesting deception. That doesnt mean you have to volunteer too much information though.

good point

but if asked what happened by the cops, if you leave too much out (especially when there are witnesses like in this case) they'll look at it the same as if you were making shit up I would think.

Let a court prove that it was inside your head that you were braking to cause an accident and not because you needed to slow down.

Volunteer that info and its no longer in your head, its in theirs.

honesty is always best, but in that case you have a good point.

knowing I'd have to say I slammed my brakes b/c I was pissed at him for doing the same, I don't think I would've called the cops while chasing him, probably would have just gotten the plate.

not that I would ever slam my brakes w/ someone behind me though, no offense to darkstarr

He was drunk, who is going to believe him...he's the worst person in the picture here, who is going to believe someone who drove drunk and rear ended and tried to flee? That's how it'll look overall.

:chuckles: I wasnt saying hes fucked here. I thinks the odds are on his side (Darkstarr's). I was only saying that to keep all loose ends tied its always safer for you to know when to keep your mouth shut.
