Default Treo Peeps...problem

Every once in a while, my Treo would hang when I try to enter the messaging menu/inbox. Now it is doing it quite a bit. Has anybody heard about this problem, or know any fixes? Should I do a reset?

that's a pretty common issue with treos. you could do a hard reset which will fix the prob for a while, but it will probably come back.

I just wanted to make sure it would be fixed with a hard reset, and wasn't an issue that couldn't be corrected. I don't have a problem doing a reset every once in a while, just back up all my contacts.

I don't know which model Treo you have, but if you used to own a older Treo or Palm device prior to this one and then sync'd that data with your new one, you unknowingly installed incompatible files on it. As your txt message threads get longer, so does the wait. The only way to fix it completely is to re-install the phone and import only your contacts and calendar. Your old data is the cause (assuming that all of the above is true). You need a clean slate. My old txt messages from a Treo 650 were imported into a 700p, and as time goes by it only gets worse.

I'm having the same issue, but I'm too lazy to fix it. I could spend that time polishing car parts or playing fetch with my cat. New message threads don't cause this time-out for me, so what I gleaned from tech support seems to be true and it sux. Simply deleting the txt thread doesn't fix the problem, you have to wipe the phone and re-install it. Mine's been doing it for 7 months and I haven't lost any data.

I have a Treo 750. Is there a way to have it automatically delete older texts? I haven't seen anything in the user's guide.

Have you ever used a different Palm device?
