I don't have the exactly link I can link you to the CA drivers hand book and if you are that curious you can look at the whole hand book.

 

Oregon state law reads as when you pass the sign you are in that speed zone and not before it.

 

Same in Texas

 

I read through a few of the CA laws regarding speed limit postings and read the speeding & speed limit section of the handbook and didn't find anything that states such.

 

well that is what i remember from my driver training class as well as the traffic school classes I took in the past. I even remember a practice test I took back in highschool that had the same question. I can ask a police officer friend of mine to confirm or deny it but I don't see him online right now.

why is it so hard to believe? it's CA.

 

Normally I'd agree but CA tends to err on the side of caution about just about everything so I'd figure this would be another one of those things.

 

Its a physical start and end zone...at least here.

restricted meaning lower limit not faster or increase.

I still stand by what i said. It's also possible my knowledge is outdated but that document is also outdated. Also it doesn't say anything about actual enforcement. The document is a DOT document not code enforcement document. The two are completely different. IMO it doesn't verify or dismiss what I said.
