online savings have ~5% rate... that .6% difference will only be significant if you've got a ton of money in the first place, plus you've got access to your money whenever you need it as opposed to having no access to your money and/or taking a huge penalty if you cash in early.

I agree with you on that. I wouldn't get a CD unless you have atleast 50k in it. Not worth it for smaller amount I agree.

Capital gains and taxes, short term losses, inaccessability, volatility... stocks aren't a good short term or even for up to 5 year term investment.
