:hsdunno: Thats what I have always heard. Its definately not 14-16. I know that is was in the 20s, thats why I said 22 or 20.

Ear: If you got your ear(s) pierced by a gun (which we HIGHLY oppose-see Piercing Myths for details) and you've never stretched your hole(s), your jewelry gauge is 20 or 18. With a little antibacterial soap and water, massaging 16 gauge body jewelry into the hole shouldn't be a problem. DO NOT attempt to go any thicker than 16 gauge if you currently have a 20 or 18 post! If you were pierced with a needle the gauges most commonly range from 18-10, most likely being 16 and 14. Intricate piercings like the tragus and rook typically hold jewelry 5/16", 3/8", or 7/16" in size. However, jewelry for the lobes can be just about any size from huggies to pirate rings. For information on stretching your lobes, see our Stretching Guide. Also check out our Stretching Kits. (see some lobe body jewelry)
Yeah, 20 with the gun. All piercers(Real piercers. I don't consider girls working at Claires with a piercing gun a piercer since they have little training) stab you with a needle larger than the jewlery so they can fit it in the hole properly.

I'd be afraid mine would never close up/shrink down. My earlobes NEVER close....and I don't think my navel ever will either :dunno:

I've read that cartilage piercings may close on the surface, but the hole always remains in the cartilage...so I guess I have my nose and ear cartilage for life

My dad had his ear pierced in the army at 18....took it out before getting married at 23. Now he's 50 and can still put an earring in.

I can still put in earrings, just not 12 gauge anymore. Mine have been out for 4 years.

Yea, I never said 14 for an ear piercing....I was thinking 14 was typical for body piercings :dunno:

I had my ears pierced with guns....no problems here. I know there are horror stories and everyone says not to get them pierced with a gun, but its just the ears....everything else I have had pierced with needles at piercing/tattoo places...

I don't think you can have any other body part pierced with a gun. Maybe, but I didn't think so.

All this talk makes me want to get tattoo'd and pierced.

Yea, I doubt they can pierce anything else with a gun...especially since it pierces with the jewelry.

I got my first holes in my ears when I was 6, I can't even imagine my mom & I walking into a tat/pierce shop back then :lmao:

Silver Safari pierces with needles. I wouldn't recommend them much. Definitely over a normal store with a gun. SS trains some but not all that great.

I got my left one done with a gun when I was like 15 or 16.

Oh. Its a piercing place in malls. They specifically do piercings.
They have good jewelry. Thats all I shop there for(Less now since they only have rubber o-rings and I'm allergic to those).

Weird, we don't have anything like that. The only people who pierce in our malls are the girls at Claires :dunno:

I got my navel in MI at a place called The Crux and I hated it...it's a hole in the wall place. I got my nose & cartilage at a place in Columbus, OH called Piercology (sp?) ...it's so nice and the people are awesome!
