Then explain to me how I don't know what I'm talking about.

What backs up our money? Gold and credit. We have far more credit than we do gold in Fort Knox. It IS just glorified paper, a promissory note by the Treasury Department. (edit: I couldn't remember at the time, but this is called Fiat money or Fiat standard or something like that)

I never said we actually do print more money to cover debt I said we CAN. What is it with you and picking out 3 words of a 50 word post to argue with?

Because those 3 words make your statement a complete fallacy

It wasn't a statement, wtf  You said "the government cannot", meaning it's impossible, I said that they can as other countries have in the past. I didn't say they they should or do or ever will. It was semantics.

"temporary"

yeah right.

the fact is, the tax we currently pay on gas is more than enough. the problem is that these dirtbags dip into it for reasons other than what that tax is intended for.

of course, every time they try to sell a tax increase to the american public, they're not going to say, "we want to add 5 cents to fund another increase on our pensions".. they'll use some bogus sob story like this one.

the fucking public needs to wake up.

Physically, in the most base sense of the definition, they can actually produce money with machines. With that said, it cannot and will not happen according to the US's monetary policy. I repeat, it will never, ever be done. Case closed.

I don't know what the hell point you're trying to make, because none of what you're saying has any factual base behind it. I just don't think you have a grasp of the US monetary policy or how our treasury department operates on a fundamental level.

right ... like i said ... leave it up to the states. its the states duty to maintain the safety of their roads. cities handle city roads, county handle county roads and so forth.

so why should i start paying more federal taxes to fix a bridge in utah? if a state decides they dont have enough road funds to fix their bridges then fine put it up to a vote in that state ballot to increase the tax. dont make people in Maine pay for bridges in Texas. its silly
