i know about it dude and i am not saying that i would have it done to my kids. I am saying that they have bigger problems, and trust me you wouldn't want any of you familly members go through hafl of the things that happens in Africa dude.
There are alot more things the Africna gouvernments should do to help there people, but instead they ban something that the general population want to do. taking away a 4000 ritual and taking away the right to have it done in a safe way. Now alot of these people will have it done in a even more dangerous way.
As for the progressive move… it total BS. The government is just folding to international pressure to ban the procedure.

It’s not a scapel by today’s western standards. I have seen tones of people who live there lives not knowing what is a real doctor… people that think sorcery is a legitimate disease. To the point that they will actually abandon there kid because some fucked up “Dr” said the kid was a witch. So tot hose people this “primitive tool” is good for the practice.

You cannot impose the western ways in Africa it just doesn’t work that way… let them deal with there more important problem instead of putting pressure to ban something that they have been doing for 4000 years.
Look, I already stated that I realize this is a tradition I can't begin to understand. That being said, part of my gripe about it is YES, the way the procedure is practiced, most often in very unsanitary conditions that cause terrible infections and disfigurements because the procedure wasn't done "properly". That and the fact that MOST of these procedures have been performed without any form of painkiller or anesthesia. Some of the different types of FC involve cutting ALL of the external genitialia. That's a whole lot of flesh to cut off. The other element that bothers me is a few of the reasons WHY they do it. Sure, some of the reasons involve tradition for traditions sake, but some of them are for nothing more than to control a woman's sexuality-to remove all elements of sexual pleasure she may experience. That's fucked up in my opinion. That's all I have to say about it.

I just hope this is a progressive move by their govenment.

You keep stating that...but MOST of these procedures weren't happening in safe conditions in the first place before this ban happened. That's the point I'm trying to make. Most families didn't have the means to take their young daughters to the primative clinics sparcely available for this kind of thing.

I understand what you're saying about all the other shit going on in many African countries. I watch the news. So I'm not discrediting that part of your argument.

If you thought getting a woman off was hard before, try getting her off with no clitoris :happysad:

Then instead of banning it why don’t they educate the people on how to make it safer? On how to practice it the right way?? But no way would that be accepted in the international community.

Look if 97% of the female population is doing it, before the ban, after the ban there will still be 97% of the population doing it. If 5% of the population was able to pay 9$ for the for the “correct” procedure then don’t ban it cause then no one will be able to get it don the “right way”.

I don't know man. Sure there will probably be a backlash to some degree but I think it is 100% progression to ban this practice. I highly doubt that after then instatement of ban there will be 97% of the population still practicing this.

Either way, I've stated my opinion; and you have yours.
