I would keep the stovebolt 6 in it and work it up a little, recover the seats, make it driveable and safe then sell it off.
:dunno: never plan on reselling it nor would i want to. once i get settled down up north, i plan on picking up a pair of early - mid 50's chevys. do one up with a big block and set it for the track ... restore the second one to complete stock, as a tow vehicle for the first.

only thing i want to do more than a old pickup is a old chevys panel van. i would love to have a completely stock delivery van. those things were so sweet

Most likely it is upholstery from looking at the pics. One of the rear fenders is kinda chewed too but not unrepairable.

Won't talk price until I either buy it or pass on it, don't want to jinx myself

Most likely a 46.

The 45 was sold by special permit only since the war had not ended yet. Later the same body was released to the public in late 45 but they were branded as 1946 models which makes them far less rare though essentially the same vehicle.

I don't know the trucks well enough to say...just that recognizable front end. Either way, i'm getting the itch more and more to restore a classic.

Well I am nt saying that I wouldn't cut a classic up, hell my intentions are to build a traditional rod anyways so I have to cut something.

The point is the rarity of this particular model and also the fact that every "hot rod" has an SBC or BBC under the hood...yay for originality

I went to the cruise in this weekend and was bored by the unoriginality of most the cars there. I mean it looked like everyone read the same issues of Hot rod magazine and went to work on it.

no way with only 6000 produced would i think of cutting that one, no way in hell. that particular truck would be rebuilt 100% to original specs if it was mine

and i know what you mean about hot rods today.... problem is 90% of the guys with them out there either buy kits, or have someone else do it. not like it used to be where joe and paul would spend 5 years meticously build the car in their garage at night after work and buy more parts they didnt use than parts they did. when we finished our 37 we had enough parts left over to halfway restore another coupe

also i'm a through and through BBC fan, nothing i love more than the raw power of a 700HP V8 sittin on the test stand with open headers and a choppy idle

Don't mean to derail your thread John, but this is my dream toy:

Other toys I want : Old truck of some kind, classic hot-rod (tbucket style) and an old british roadster / shelby cobra / something of the sort.

Thats a nice car. Personally though I am not a fan of muscle era cars. More of a pre 62 fan more like pre 58 really.

I def. love the huge boats of the 40s-50s and would'nt turn down a chance to restore one..... For some reason, the droptop SS always caught my eye. I want it in either red or blue (don't know the specific colors....i'd decide when the time came).

I also love the old caddy / lincolns that were like 27 feet long and the 55 Bel Air.
