"You could get killed walking your doggy"
Pacino in Heat
The point is you could choke and die on a sandwich or drown in your glass of water, one risk really isn't inherently any worse than another if you asess the situation and take precautions.
I can't agree with you there.
While the outcome (death) is identical, the levels of risk are not.
When Suzie Soccer Mom blows through the red in her Escalade long after the light has changed, there aren't many precautions you can take on a bike. At least with a car you have crumple zones that aren't part of your anatomy.
Don't get me wrong... if people could actually drive down here, I'd definitely ride. But with the way it is now, the risk vs reward just doesn't pan out.

If I die riding my motorcycle I will have died doing something that I love. I am aware of the consequences every time I get on my motorcycle and the risks that I am taking even if I am following EVERY law.
I would rather have the hot jacket and my skin on than run the risk of red asphalt and skin grafts.
Skin grafts are no fun, but once you've had them all else seems like just a papercut.
Riding is fun, always respect the bike. Always watch what others are doing and be prepared for the worst. Watching your shirtless buddy in shorts take an offramp at 60+ is insane and when he lays it down and comes out of his shoes and his ankles hit the guard rail and cut off his feet, it gives you a little more of that feeling. Just use common sense when riding.
