I got my gun permit which I waited about a year for.
Plus, its automatic 3 or 7 years in prison if your caught with an unlicensed/ registered gun. NO EXCEPTIONS!
If by "most large cities" you mean "most communist states" then I agree.

Why not just make friends with someone with guns and go with them. You can shoot, just not own.

And aren't you prior military? I think they would look at yours a little more on the nice side.

It depends on the state. For him, the benefit would be not going to jail.

Mine is currently unregistered, and Im storing it at a friends house right now. Lets say he goes on a murderous rampage with the M15.. would registering it or not registering it keep me from being a suspect?

As long as you didn't pull the trigger and the justice system does it's job, you're fine.

I hope your question is hypothetical. If you gun is in the possession of someone capable of going on a murderous rampage, you should remove it from that area immediately.

No matter how you look at it a gun can be traced back to you at ome point or another.

The gun at one point was sold legally and from there some guy sold it to another and so on. Somewhere in there someone knows who they sold it to and it can be tracked that way. Once a gun is used in a crime the last known owner of that weapon is tracked down. You being the owner of that weapon with no bill of sale saying you no longer own it makes you responsible fo letting that person use your gun on a murderous rampage and will face some sort of legal aspect from it.
