Who shoots for rice?
so to the original poster, i guess my opinion stands with that no matter what you do in the automotive world, there are always going to be the closed minded, the ignorant, the hating, groups of people. if you have a fast car, someone will talk trash about the interior. if u have a fast car with a nice interior someone will say you paid too much. you beat a muscle car with your 4 cylinder, and he'll say that you're cheating because you have a turbo. u beat him without a turbo he'll say its because your car is too light. it goes on and on
i enjoy cars with good execution of what they're intended to do, period. thats that. i'm not gonna let stupidity change that.

I guess show cars are ricey in some peoples opinions. Externally the car above looks like it belongs on a show floor. IMO if a car looks that way and looks to belong on a show floor, then it should be excluded from targeted as "rice." As stated previously by another member, it looks decently executed.
Now your going to think what your going to think, but IMO "rice" suits the other pictures provided above. The owners of those cars look like they have no fucking clue and just put a bunch of shit on their car because they think it is cool and it actuality it just looks like crap or gay, whichever you prefer. To me that is rice.
I believe true ricers makes the decisions they do because they do not know any better and have a distorted concept of what tuning is all about. Hence the shit on their car looks like an accident and they just say fuck it whether they have realized it or not and just move onto the next crappy, cool in there eyes, modification.
However, if the car looks like it was developed with knowledge of the decision and intention to get it to look a certain way then it should be given a little more credit then to be flagged as rice. The integra above looks like it is supposed to look that way and not like it was an intentional accident.

So, really... Rice is just other peoples opinions on modifications you've done? There's much more bashing of other people's cars in the import world in a select few months than I've EVER seen in the muscle car community. Granted, they are two completely different concepts. Economy to performance, and performance to more performance. Anyhow just my thoughts. Thanks for all the answers, less the ones about eating rice, wheat bread, AzN/aZn, and any other not-so-clever blip that might have interrupted mature conversation.
Of course when we first meet its all trash talking and hating, but over time, you realize who knows their stuff and who's out there just to talk trash and be loyal to whatever niche they want to be loyal to.
Some of those musclecar guys were so into their drag racing and V8 stuff, anything not musclecar was rice. Annoying, yes. I would always challenge them to a drag race in the rain and they'd be all "thats dumb". not rice, just ignorant.
Then some of the honda guys were strictly into street racing. enough said. (rice)
then there were guys who appreciated cars and were always willing to learn more. "wow, i didnt know evo's can run 13's in the rain, i wish my camaro could do that".
i'm a firm believer in that someone's car represents their personality. A car that was just slapped together for the sake of being different like the examples shown earlier in this thread tend to be poorly planned due to misinformation or lack of research.
if you go on honda-tech and look in the appearance/cosmetic forum, you'll see that every newly owned civic or integra has the same damn modifications (amber turn signals/rotas/front lip/slammed). some of them look good but many of the comments treat these cars like they were gods amongst cars. its lame. sorry.
it goes the same for the Sti/WRX/Evo guys. these cars have sh!tloads of potential, but a lot of their owners use them just to drive around town, with no intentions to ever explore the cars' limits legally. "Nah i dont want to take my car to the track, [fill in lame excuse here]". Some guys will try to kill themselves in the canyons (i'll admit at one point i did too) not realizing the true dangers to themselves and other motorists. Those guys are rice to me too.
i'm going nowhere with this post.

i dunno how old that integra picture is, but that "Andy's Autobody" body kit was a fucking piece of shit back in the 90s and it still is a piece of shit now. even more so, if that bodykit is a replica of an andy's bodykit.
if i saw that car on the streets, id give him a  like the good ol days.

that integra looks like an intentional accident to me.
