incredibly jealous of your garage and tools. I've been thinking about selling my condo and moving to the ghetto just so I can have a garage

Yeah, he's definitely got the setup. My buddy has a saab shop with lifts and the whole 9 yards, but I always feel like I'm imposing when I work over there. :hs: My civic has been parked in his lot for like 5 months now

Based on that, you must be half-way done... Before I got my garage, whenever I towed my car somewhere to work on it, it was always there for no less than 10 months.

I saw the pic in your other thread & it doesn't look to me like you've got it so bad. Sometimes that's how you have to do it. My GSX was built that way & I wouldn't have anything like it if it weren't for my cousin's shop and tools.

Loving the rear end swap.

What kind of measurements did you take to make sure everything was square and you'd be able to keep the rear suspension geometry accurate?

As I'm not familiar with either DODGE or MITSU cars; do these share a similar chassis or are you making it as you go? Looking at your install, I take it they are similar but the COLT was never suppose to be RWD.

Will you be caging the COLT to increase structural rigidity?

WIll you be tracking this car or is this just to see if you can do it?

I don't think your welds look too bad, plus that's what grinders are for

Once the rear wheels were centered in the well, I measured from the front door seam to the center of the hub and it's 75.625" I jacked the rear firmly against the undercarriage (first ensuring the car was level on the jackstands) and matched that to both sides before welding the mounts in place. The rear wheels are centered. I also measured diagonally from 2 holes near the front of the car that are used by body shops to straighten the frame (it's never been wrecked) and the measurements were the same.

The Dodge Colt is actually a Mitsubishi Mirage (or a Plymouth Champ, or a Hyundai Excel). In Japan, there is a Mirage Cyborg. It was AWD. If I were FWD, I'd be able to use bolt-on parts from Hyundai Elantra's (or the factory 1.6L DOHC Turbo Colt GT), automatic Dodge Colts, and the cars I stripped to bolt it right in. But the AWD transfer case interferes with the rear mount, so I'm making my own front and rear mounts. The timing side mount and tranny mount are bolt-in's.

I'm going to do a main loop, harness bar, and crossbars because I took the powered seatbelt stuff out. Now I have to put seatbelts back in it, and on paper this thing will run 10's, so it's a win-win... except for finding a cage that fits the Colt because I don't have the tools to bend one.

1/4 mile only. Acceleration's my addiction.
