...and if the snipers don't have ammo, they won't do much good. But from my understanding, the Nazis went through the low countries more because of the good relations they had with the Swiss and the fact that they posed no threat.

more like they were "OK" with invading poland and killing jews because they were getting a lot of business from germany...

does a few soldiers (with no ammo) wandering into another country really count as an invasion?

Read up on your history. They didn't want to take the risk of invading through them. Just about every swiss person had a rifle and marksmanship was the national past time. Switzerland was ready to defend themselves once the war started. Sure germany would of won had they really try to invade them but they would of lost way too many people than it would of been worth. Do some googleing.

werd

the nazis werent stupid when it came to strategic planning...hitlers fanatical need to completely destroy the jews is what doomed them from the start. the military power and minds they had were impressive, no matter who you are.

they knew that going through the alps would take a enourmous amount of time for what amounted to essentially no gain...the swiss were in the wrong direction from the enemies they needed to be fighting. they were already engaged with the french, they had most of their eastern neighbors subdued and to the south was italy, their ally. to take the hard route through the swiss alps was pointless. instead they knew why not deal with the real threats because once they defeated france, the swiss would be surrounded and have no choice but to deal with a german europe.... the swiss made concessions to keep their soveirgnty(sp)

Negative, 'snipers' are not why the Nazis didn't invade. But you're right on the rest of it.

Actually at certain point the Nazis wanted to invade Switzerland. But the swiss had a good defence (still do). Also the financial alliance helped... and mostly luck and Geography being between Italie and Germany.

Forgot to mention... The defence i am tlaking about ARE in fact in the ALPES but not sniper... more like real military posts. They have a name for it... but they had caanons, and heavy weaponds there.

ummm risk? fucking risk? we are talking about a nation that took on France, England, and Russia at the same in the air, land, and at sea at a point when they werent allowed to have a military. not to mention they began the slaughter of millions of people. like i said they were military geniuses but at the end of the day the downfall was hitler and he would have had no qualms about sending thousands of his troops to death if he wanted the swiss...they just werent worth anything

the snipers were not the main cause for not invading...the swiss geography was not right nor was there anything of worth
