You're not unplugging the machine, just the phone connection.

I usually just count my own change, take it to work, put it in the register, and take the appropriate amount of cash out.
Saves me 9%...saves the restaurant whatever fee the bank charges to buy change.

Apparently you don't know how commerce works. I've seen grocery stores go through $5,000 in change in a month. I've seen laundromats bring in $1,000 in quarters in a matter of one week.

It adds up.
