you don't, but the problem is there are idiots out there that don't give a shit about having stuff cleaner and more efficient unless you scare the shit out of them about it.

How is it not created by humans?? Burning fossil fuels has increased the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. There is no debate about that. Carbon dioxide allows the light from the sun to pass through. It reflects off the earth in a different wavelength. Carbon dioxide does not allow this changed lightwave to pass through. Hence the rise in temperature. It's our fault. There's no question about it. It's there and we caused it.

So the ends justify the means? I'm not in favor of creating hysteria to accomplish anything, it's not necessary. On top of that I don't think the global warming theory has changed the minds of most of those people anyway. Just look around, the people who didn't give a shit before still don't care even when they do believe in global warming. However if a legislator were to introduce regulations and simply pitch them to the public properly a lot more would be accomplished. For example explaining to people that a regulation would reduce energy consumption and therefor cost. As well as reducing the contamination of air and ground water I think you would be hard pressed to find opponents. However the exact same bill pitched as "ZOMG global warming!!! :run: " it would be a controversial and fierce battle.

Global warming is real. It's part of earth's cycle of cold and hot. Ice ages follow warmings. Our pollution is helping accelerate the warming process.

However, Manny is right about the sensationalism...it's over-dramatic.
